Preet and I had a fantastic time attending the Mumpreneurs networking club bus tour event in Kingston upon Thames, last Tuesday. We both love meeting new people so attending events like this is most definitely one of the perks of setting up our own business. This event was great as we could listen, learn and share experiences with various business owners. We felt invigorated, inspired and thoroughly enjoying meeting everyone at the event. We’d also happily work with some of the businesses and hopefully some long lasting relationships will develop as a result.
The Mumpreneur Network club (MNC) facilitate effective networking for business mums and female entrepreneurs and are open to all, however big or small the business. The Mumpreneurs Networking Club Bus Tour Spring 2016 is a one stop shop for business support and we attended the event in the beautiful ancient market place in Kingston upon Thames. There was an event in Guildford the previous day and events in Brighton and Portsmouth this week. If you’re a business owner or thinking about starting a business it’s well worth attending. You don’t have to be a member to join, just register on the MNC website.
The first businessman we met was Bob Harvey-Jenner who owns a photography business life through a lense and was the event photographer. He has a simple ethos of trying to capture the essence and personality of the people he photographs. He generously allowed us to use some of the images for this post…..thanks Bob!
The fabulous Christine; business owner of Yogaberry, who is one of our very own natural health star authors was blogging at the event. Christine’s talents aren’t just limited to teaching yoga to individuals and families but is also a blogger writing about yoga and family life. Check out one of her wonderful posts for us here about yoga poses which can help reduce lower back pain.
Another highlight for us was meeting Amanda and Paula from multiple minds; an organisation that brings together experts to share their knowledge, experience and skills to inspire parents and carers who want to return to work after a career break, change jobs or start and grow a business. It was interesting chatting to them about the challenges of trying to achieve a balanced life and how this is a shared ethos that both our businesses aim to promote.
As if meeting all these wonderful people wasn’t enough, we also got to taste some yummy home-made raw chocolate, made with the choc chicks raw chocolate making kits. The equally gorgeous business owner Galia, the original choc chick, was lovingly dishing out her delicious raw chocolate from a batch she made especially for the event. These raw chocolate making kits are ideal for adults and children alike. Not only are they tasty home-made treats, but they come with all the health benefits of raw chocolate. It’s also a fun activity to make your own chocolate, as a gift or just to enjoy for yourself. I know my daughters who are both under five would love it. I’ll definitely be buying a kit.
Not only did we have the opportunity to connect with some inspirational people, but we also had our first ever radio interview and were filmed for the first time.
Tino from Business radio was first to interview us. Business Radio are the original internet radio station championing small businesses everywhere.
Tino made us feel really comfortable, making our first radio experience feel effortless and we loved sharing natural health star’s vision and ethos with his listeners.
Another first for us was being filmed by Mi Elverson from the vlog academy. Again Mi is incredibly talented and spent her time behind the camera putting us at ease and supporting us with encouraging nods. The vlog academy help businesses get in front of the camera and encourages them to vlog as a means to promote their own businesses by getting their message directly to their audience. Businesses she’s helped include the choc chicks Galia.
Mi had a lovely calming way about her, immediately putting our nerves at ease and in the end we had great fun talking about natural health star and the event itself. Check out the video below which is only a minute long.
Overall we had a great time. Thank you Mumpreneur Network Club for putting on such a great event.
