Nourishing Chia and Banana Smoothie

By Maria Lobo - Creative Healthy Recipes -

chia banana smoothie

This simple smoothie takes a few minutes to prepare and is fantastic with your morning breakfast as it is packed with lots of energy and will keep you feeling full! It’s naturally sweet and has lots of goodness so it’s a great one for kids too.

Try Chia seeds as a tasty topping for this smoothie as they are packed with antioxidants, have high omega-3 content and are also rich in calcium, which is important for strengthening teeth and bones. Other health benefits include their high protein and fibre content, which could aid weight loss by reducing hunger.

  • 2 tbsp of chia seeds
  • 1 banana
  • 2 kiwis
  • 1/2 beetroot (raw)
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • thumb size piece of fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp of raisins

  • Mix all the ingredients in a blender and add a little water. You can add more water once blended if your smoothie is too thick.
  • Sprinkle some raisins and chia seeds.

Maria’s tip: Leave the chia seeds to soak in water overnight before adding to the smoothie as this can make them easier to digest.
