Right now is a very good time to pay attention to your health and beauty in the run up to what can be a very busy and stressful time of the year. Here are 5 simple ways to have a naturally healthy and beautiful Christmas.
1. Avoid catching a cold
The last thing you want is to catch a cold. It means dry lips, sore nose, watery eyes and reddened face not to mention feeling lethargic and shivery. At this time of the year it’s worth taking some Echinacea. Research shows this herb literally boosts white blood cell production which is a fundamental part of your immune system.
You can also be vigilant by avoiding touching your face with your hands and wash them more frequently.
2. Step up your beauty routine
Your skin cells renew themselves usually every 4-6 weeks so step up your beauty routine starting today! Cleanse, tone and moisturise every day. If you use a facial oil only a couple of times a week consider using it a bit more frequently to give you skin an extra boost. Exfoliate weekly depending upon your skin type to speed up cell renewal between now and Christmas.
3. Balance out over-indulgences
Coming up to the party season, it’s this time of the year where you may over-indulge in food and drink. Milk Thistle is a fantastic extract to help restore your liver function and aid your body in flushing out toxins. Drinking plenty of water will also help you detox. Try swapping coffee and tea for fruit or herbal teas, there are some lovely festive flavours out there.
4. Massage away stress
Aromatherapy oils like Lavender, Ylang Ylang and Bergamot are excellent at calming and de-stressing the mind and body and uplifting the spirit. Use them in an oil burner or add them to your bath. Aromatherapy pulse point roll ons can be useful to carry around with you and apply when needed.
If tension starts to build, take a few deep breaths and massage your temples using gentle circular movements to help relax and release tightness in this area.
5. Lip service
Winter weather, drying central heating and dehydration from over-indulgence can leave your lips dry, chapped and not at all ready for the mistletoe! The good news is all you need to do is invest in a good lip balm. Avoid any that contain paraffin wax as this actually has a drying effect on your lips. Tip: put your lip balm on before you go to sleep to let it sink in and work overnight.
